Remote Learning

Welcome to Windale’s Remote Learning Page. Remote Learning is when your child is learning from home. This may be because they have tested positive for COVID-19 or because the school has closed due to a Local or National Lockdown.

Our online teaching for an individual child uses Oak National Academy. For a whole class it can consist of direct face to face teaching and work set, which the children complete online and return directly to the teacher for marking. This is all carried out online and children DO NOT need to print anything. We also use Oak National Academy for some of our Wider Curriculum online learning.  Please see our Continuity of Learning Plan for more information.

When creating a whole school timetable for online lessons, we will look carefully at family groups and will try to book teaching slots at different times for siblings so that the grown up at home is available to support one child at a time and to enable a device to be shared at home if needed.

What will happen if we have a Local or National Lockdown?

Years 1-6 all have an individual Chromebook which can be collected from school for use at home. The children will be taught online by their class teacher via TEAMs Classroom. Every day, a child will receive online teaching for Maths and English (in small groups), plus a whole class Story Time.  Wider Curriculum work will also be set daily and can be accessed via TEAMs Classroom.

Teachers will differentiate their teaching to take into account the learning needs of their children. This means each teacher will be teaching up to three Maths and three English/Phonics sessions, plus the Story Time per day.  In addition, 1:1 online teaching for children with complex SEND will be provided by the class teacher and support staff as appropriate.

Reception Do not have a school device. They will be taught in the same way as Years 1-6. Please see above for details.

What will happen if my child has to self-isolate?

If your child must self-isolate, you will be emailed a grid of work for your child to complete. There are three lessons to complete each day - Maths, English and a Wider Curriculum lesson. This work is from Oak National Academy and is chosen by the class teacher as it links closely with the learning that is taking place within the classroom, ensuring continuity of learning for your child. Ms Solomon will also call to check you are able to access the learning and she is available for you to phone if you are having any technical difficulties!
