Welcome to Windale Primary School
High quality teaching and learning that inspires every child to 'Aim High - be the best you can be!' has secured excellent progress for our children. Windale is in the top 2% of schools in England and second in the County, using the DfE Progress Measures.
We are an exciting and vibrant school and we strive to make every day a valuable and stimulating learning experience for each and every one of our pupils, from Nursery through to Year 6. High quality teaching and learning, which inspires every child and helps them grow in independence and understanding themselves as a learner, has led to strong progress. Windale is currently in the top 2% of primary schools in England (that's number 379 out of over 32,000 schools!) for DfE progress measures and second in the County.
Emotional health and nurturing for learning are central to our success and create an ethos that ensures all children are treated with respect and dignity. We know every child can learn to believe in themselves and others, and the sound relationships that form through our approach allow even the most vulnerable or challenging children to thrive and flourish. We want every child to feel that learning is intrinsically joyful and something precious that is relevant and accessible to them. We accept no excuses – learning is for every child throughout their time with us and beyond.
The school council were asked to work closely with their peers to create our school motto. They created 'Aim high - be the best you can be!' and this epitimises the expectations of our staff and our children at all times.
The government has recently proposed to re-open schools to certain year groups from after half term. On Monday 1st June, Windale will be closed to all children for a Re-orientation Day (this was originally an INSET day). This day is about ensuring all school staff have a clear understanding of what the safety measures and safe practices will be in the school before any pupils from Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 return that week. Nursery, Reception and key worker/vulnerable children will return on Tuesday 2nd June, then Year 1 on Wednesday 3rd June and finally Year 6 on Thursday 4th June. This phased approach allows school to ensure safety procedures are functioning and that we have ensured the highest safety systems and procedures.
All children in Years 2, 3, 4 & 5 should continue with their online learning.
