Kingfisher

The SENCo and Deputy Headteacher at Windale Primary School is Miss Katie Whiteley. As a Senior Leader she ensures that parents and carers are offered the best inclusive provision for our children and families. There is a strong team who are dedicated to tailoring learning to every child’s needs irrespective of gender, race or disability. The school has an Equality Policy and ensures that there is equality of opportunity and those children with Special Education Needs and Disabilities are not disadvantaged.

We strongly believe in helping every child reach their full potential.  Sometimes our children may need a little extra help and support to succeed in their education and social interactions. Positive relationships between adults and children are paramount. From the very beginning, our children learn that we are safe and trustworthy adults, who are reliable and approachable, who will listen and value their opinions and beliefs and remain consistent. We follow the SEND code of practice (2015) and follow a graduated approach to identify and support all pupils with SEND.

If you would like to discuss anything related to SEND with Miss Whiteley, please contact her through the school office, make an appointment to meet her, email her or speak to her on the courtyard at the beginning or end of the day.

Local SEND Context

It is important to be aware of the challenges facing SEND in the local Oxfordshire area. In July 2023 SEND provision was found to be 'Inadequate' (Ofsted Report: Click Here). To help address this unacceptable wider context, Ms Geran-Haq was invited by the Director of Children’s Services to represent local primary schools on the SEND Improvement and Assurance Board. Miss Whiteley also sits on the Oxfordshire SEND Strategic Delivery Group and contributes to the Section 19 panel for Oxfordshire, representing the excellent local reputation for actively engaging in expecting the very best provision and outcomes for all children.
