At Windale, Education with Character underpins all that we do. Alongside strong academic learning, we place great importance on developing confident, compassionate and responsible children who are inspired to believe and achieve.

Each Class Family makes a Service Pledge, enabling children to make a meaningful contribution to the wider community. These include developing a love of reading, supporting local charities, caring for wildlife and building inter-generational relationships through visits to local care homes.

We enrich our curriculum through inspiring partnerships with organisations such as Radley College, The Dragon School, Into University, local artists and St John’s College, Oxford. These partnerships enhance learning through sport, the arts and improvements to our school environment, including our Sensory Garden.

To broaden horizons and nurture imagination, all children take part in trips and residential visits, including Youlbury, PGL Liddington and the Isle of Wight, alongside visits to farms, museums, libraries and local places of interest.

We value strong partnerships with parents and carers and offer many opportunities for them to engage in school life, including reading events, class assemblies, whole-school celebrations, fundraising events and community gatherings.

Windale is proud to be developing a Cradle to Career programme, working with education, health, employers and the community to embed aspiration and career-related learning from Early Years onwards. This work has led to the creation of The Windale Community Hub, leadership development for pupils (School Council, Eco Council, Junior Librarians, Singing Stars, Hall Helpers, Playground Buddies, Sports Ambassadors, Tidying Team and Mini Medics), community sporting events and a wide range of enrichment opportunities.

We celebrate diversity and community through special events such as Eid celebrations, fairs, concerts and themed days, many of which are planned by our School Council. Children are also inspired by visitors from a range of professions and backgrounds through Aspirations Day and curriculum-linked visits.

A wide range of lunch-time and after-school clubs further support children’s wellbeing, creativity and confidence, ensuring every child can flourish at Windale.
