Our curriculum is designed around a theme each half term that is designed to enthuse and inspire the children. We offer a range of learning linked trips, curriculum days, special events and residential visits designed to enrich and provide experience beyond the classroom. These include Forest Schools, taking part in math's challenge days, attending sporting events at the local secondary school and visiting places such as Youlbury, Normandy and the Isle of Wight.

When the children begin school their learning is organised into areas of learning:-

·         Personal, Social and Emotional Development

·         Communication and Language

·         Literacy

·         Mathematics

·         Understanding of the World

·         Physical Development

·         Expressive Arts and Design

Learning takes place through play, exploration, problem solving and interaction with others. Teaching input is done in small groups and in short whole class sessions which build, to allow the children’s concentration skills to develop. Our Early Years practitioners are skilled at supporting the children’s learning to ensure that good progress is made. Children in Reception will join the older children gradually as their confidence grows. Children will build on their phonetic understanding through the ‘Letters and Sounds’ programme.

Key Stage One

We aim to make transition from Reception into Key Stage One as seamless as possible. The subjects English, Mathematics, Science, History, Geography, Music, Art, Physical Education, Information Technology, Personal, Social, Health Education and Religious Education are presented to the children in a similar play based, exploratory manner as Reception. Phonics continues with the ‘Letters and Sounds’ Programme.

Key Stage Two

The curriculum in Key Stage Two follows on with the same areas of learning as Key Stage One with languages, swimming and the opportunity to begin to learn an instrument added.
